Definitions of unemployment, youth work policy, disadvantaged people
Unemployment - the lack of work occupation due to limited job vacancies
To characterize one as unemployed, he/she should be between 15 -64, should not
have a work at all, should be willing to work, should seek for a job and be
disposable in case of an appropriate vacancy.
Youth work policy - There is no formal definition for this term in Greek. There
is the Youth Policy and the Work legislation that includes youth also. Relevant
information follows below.
Disadvantaged people - The term is general, it does not have an exact corresponding
word in the Greek vocabulary. We usually refer to two groups of disadvantaged
people
a. the disabled people (physical handicap) & people with mental disorder
b. socially excluded groups such as
- drug and ex drug addicts
- ex prisoners
- refugees
- immigrants
- repatriated people of Greek origin
